THE RACONTEUR

He bursts into a room,

a seasoned song and dance man,

his devilish laugh marinated in good will.

He brings a sunshiny new day,

a patter of jokes, seamless

as a Carson monologue.

A bulldozer, he clears away frozen tundra,

walking and talking with bells and whistles,

transforming ordinary into celebratory.

An electrified Ferris wheel,

he illuminates the night sky,

as he tries to assuage the suffering

of the human condition with lots of laughs.

But, he’s not the clown he appears to be.

His lust for a mirthful life makes everybody

glow with a golden light.

Wearing beatific smiles, we are all welcomed

to Olympus.

We never knew he also packed heat.
